Are transgender women eligible for admission to St. ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ University?

Yes. Transgender women are eligible for admission to the three colleges at St. Kate’s – the College for Women, the College for Adults and the Graduate College.

Are non-binary and genderqueer applicants eligible for admission to St. ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ University?

Yes. Non-binary and genderqueer applicants are eligible for admission to the three colleges at St. Kate’s: the College for Women, the College for Adults and the Graduate College.

Are transgender men eligible for admission?

Individuals who identify as men are eligible and encouraged to apply for admission to the College for Adults and to the Graduate College. Individuals who identify as men are not eligible for admission to the College for Women.

How will the Office of Admission know whether it has received an application from a transgender ´ºÓêÖ±²¥?

Applicants have the option of self-disclosing as transgender in their communication with the admission office.

Will St. ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ University require any statement beyond the applicant’s self-identification? For example, will transgender women need to establish that they have a history of living as a woman?

No. Whether a ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ transitions suddenly or has a long history with a particular gender identity will not have an impact on their application for admission.

Are applications from transgender women, non-binary, and genderqueer ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s handled differently?

No. Admission to St. ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ University is a competitive process and the same criteria and standards are applied to all applicants.

Does St. Kate’s currently have transgender, non-binary, and genderqueer ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s enrolled?

Yes, St. Kate’s currently has transgender, non-binary, and genderqueer ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s enrolled. The University values the dignity of each ´ºÓêÖ±²¥â€™s growth, both academically and personally, and recognizes that identity may change.

If a ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ transitions during their time at St. Kate’s to a male gender identity, will the ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ need to withdraw from the College for Women? 

No. Once a ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ is admitted, the University supports them regardless of their sex or gender identity.
