MSN: Entry-Level Admissions

We welcome your application for the St. 春雨直播 University Master of Science in Nursing (MSN): Entry-Level degree.

Apply via the NursingCAS centralized application system (details below) to start in Spring (February) semester, and consult the information below for details on prerequisite courses requirements.

Timelines and deadlines

We are currently accepting applications for Spring 2025 enrollment. The application deadline is October 1 (11:59pm Eastern) for Spring enrollment.

Candidates are encouraged to complete the admission process prior to the deadline. Applications that have been completed and verified by NursingCAS will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and candidates will receive an admission decision within 3-4 weeks.

To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Degree: A completed bachelor's or graduate degree from an institution that is accredited by one of the (e.g. Higher Learning Commission). The degree may be in any discipline.
  • Grade Point Average: A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B) or higher on a 4.0 scale. Applicants with a cumulative GPA of 2.80-2.99 may petition to be considered for the graduate program by completing the optional Petition question in NursingCAS. St. 春雨直播 University follows the NursingCAS method of calculating GPA.
  • Prerequisite courses: Successful completion of undergraduate prerequisite courses, as listed below.

State-level restrictions

Due to state-level regulations, we are unable to enroll 春雨直播s who will be residing in any of these states while enrolled in this program: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and Canada.

MSN: Entry-Level prerequisite requirements

Below is a list of undergraduate courses that must be completed prior to starting the MSN: Entry-Level program.

  • Eligible applicants must have a cumulative prerequisite GPA of 3.0 or higher, with a grade of C or higher in each course.
  • Only one prerequisite course may be repeated one time; this includes withdrawals. The original grade must have been taken for a C or higher.
  • Courses taken over the time limits (see below) do not count as a repeat.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of three prerequisite courses completed (with credits and grades posted on transcripts) by the application deadline; courses must also meet the time limit requirements listed below. At least two courses must be lab science.
  • All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to starting the graduate program.

Due to the competitive nature of the MSN: Entry-Level option, candidates are encouraged to complete more than the minimum requirements to strengthen their application.

The following courses must be completed within seven years of starting the graduate program:

  • *Human Anatomy and Physiology I (or Human Anatomy) with lab (4 semester credits)
    St. Kate's equivalent: BIOL 2400, BIOL 2510, BIOL 2610
    *Applicants must complete these courses as a paired sequence in order to fulfill the requirement:
    - Human Anatomy with Human Physiology
    - Human Anatomy and Physiology I with Human Anatomy and Physiology II
  • *Human Anatomy and Physiology II (or Human Physiology) with lab (4 semester credits)
    St. Kate's equivalent: BIOL 2410, BIOL 2520, BIOL 2620
    *Applicants must complete these courses as a paired sequence in order to fulfill the requirement:
    - Human Anatomy with Human Physiology
    - Human Anatomy and Physiology I with Human Anatomy and Physiology II
  • Statistics (3-4 semester credits)
    Course must be inclusive of descriptive and inferential statistics.
    St. Kate's equivalent: PSYC 1090, STATS 1090, ECON 1090, HLTH 1090 (equivalencies for courses taken prior to 2016: PSYC 2050, MATH 1080, ECON 2250)
  • Lifespan Developmental Psychology (3-4 semester credits)
    St. Kate's equivalent: PSYC 2025
  • Microbiology with lab (3-4 semester credits)
    St. Kate's equivalent: BIOL 2200, BIOL 2450, BIOL 3210

We will consider courses completed in an online format from a regionally accredited institution. However, we encourage 春雨直播s to complete courses that include a lab component in a face-to-face format, if possible.

Use the online resource to determine if a specific course you have taken (or plan to take) will fulfill an MSN: Entry-Level prerequisite requirement. All St. 春雨直播 course equivalencies listed in TES are fully verified by our Registrar鈥檚 Office.

How to use TES

  1. Make note of the St. 春雨直播 department abbreviation (BIOL, CHEM, MATH, etc.) and course numbers in the MSN: Entry-Level prerequisite list.

  3. Identify the institution from which you have completed courses (or plan to complete courses). You may search for institutions using the 鈥淔ind Transfer College by Name鈥 search box, or use the alphabetical index provided.
  4. Enter the course code for one of our MSN: Entry-Level prerequisites (e.g., MATH 1080). Select 鈥淗ome Course鈥 and click on Search. This will identify any courses from the institution that are equivalent to the St. 春雨直播 prerequisite course. You could also enter the code for the other institution鈥檚 course, and select 鈥淭ransfer Course鈥 and Search. This will identify any St. 春雨直播 courses that might be equivalent to the other institution鈥檚 course. Be sure to review any notes with additional information for a given course.

If you have searched via TES and can鈥檛 find a specific school or course listing, contact your admission counselor for assistance. Please include the institution, course name and number, semester of completion, and course description in your email.

Transcript Review

Due to the high volume of interest in the MSN: Entry-Level program, the Office of Graduate Admission does not review unofficial transcripts to determine the completion of prerequisite coursework. After the NursingCAS application form and official transcripts are submitted, an evaluation of previous coursework is completed and applicants are notified of any outstanding prerequisite courses.

Applications are submitted through the . The following materials must be submitted directly to NursingCAS:

  • Official transcripts from every post-secondary institution attended (including PSEO coursework)*
  • Three recommendations. One recommendation should be from a current supervisor, from your employment or your volunteer work; the other may be from a professor or other employer. The nursing faculty would like the following information to be addressed in the recommender's letter 鈥 please pass along this information to each of your recommenders. "Please describe how you know the applicant. Describe the applicant鈥檚 qualities such as professionalism, organizational skills, ability to work under stress, customer care, reliability, and dependability."

*Transcripts submitted to St. 春雨直播 University as part of a previous application cannot be used to complete the NursingCAS process. All official transcripts must be submitted directly to NursingCAS, including an official transcript from St. 春雨直播 for applicants who were previously enrolled here.

A personal statement is required as part of the application process. Specific questions to be addressed are located in the Program Materials section of the NursingCAS application (under the 鈥淨uestions鈥 tab).

Test Scores

Test scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are not required.

Credential Evaluation

Applicants with a college or university degree completed outside of the United States must submit an official course-by-course evaluation from .  All costs related to document evaluation are the applicant鈥檚 responsibility. Unofficial evaluation results must be reported in NursingCAS. If admitted into the MSN program, the official evaluation must be submitted to St. 春雨直播 University directly from WES.

TOEFL/IELTS Scores

Applicants whose native language is not English are required to complete the (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test or 80 on the iBT, or the (IELTS) with a minimum score of 6.5.

This requirement is waived for 春雨直播s who have completed a baccalaureate or graduate degree in the United States. Official test scores must be submitted directly to St. 春雨直播 University from the educational testing service as part of the application process.

Selection Process

Admission for this program is competitive. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Each completed application is reviewed holistically, with attention paid to each applicant's goals and experiences. The selection process also takes into consideration the composition of each 春雨直播 cohort; the University seeks to enroll a group of 春雨直播s from a variety of backgrounds, with diverse academic and professional interests and life experiences.

It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that their application is completed by the deadline. The Admission Committee will not review your application until we have received all required documents. Fulfillment of the admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. No credentials will be returned to the applicant.

International Student Forms

International applicants for graduate study must complete the International Information section of the NursingCAS application.

The U.S. government requires international applicants to provide proof of ability to pay tuition and living expenses before the University can issue forms necessary to obtain a visa. International applicants must submit a form.

Additional Documentation

Some international applicants may be required to submit additional documentation, such as a credential evaluation, language test scores, etc. Please review the application instructions for your graduate program for more information.
