The Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program at St. ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ University provides the building blocks of critical thinking by incorporating medical decision-making, ethical considerations, and principles of team-based practice into every course.

Our innovative curriculum begins with 14 months in the classroom engaging in progressive, rich discussion—one that includes a global perspective—and hands-on experiences alongside experts in clinical settings. Next is 14 months of clinical clerkships (2,000 hours at a clinical location) before concluding with a senior seminar.

Students who complete the program will be prepared to take the National Certification Examination required for licensure and clinical practice, and will demonstrate:

• Critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and medical decision-making skills reflective of quality patient care
• An active, investigatory thinking approach to clinical situations
• Understanding of the variety of roles in the healthcare setting through interprofessional education (IPE)

Due to the intensive nature of this curriculum, we strongly discourage ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s from seeking or maintaining outside employment while enrolled. While understanding that certain circumstances necessitate a ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ to pursue employment, the program cannot make concessions to accommodate a ´ºÓêÖ±²¥â€™s work obligations, nor should the ´ºÓêÖ±²¥â€™s work obligations interfere with the progression of learning and responsibilities the ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ has while enrolled.
