St. ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ University’s political science major is a comprehensive and innovative program that prepares ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s for a career in public service and social justice. The program focuses on both theory and practice, giving ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s the skills and knowledge they need to make a difference in the world.

Students will gain a depth of knowledge in domestic and international governing bodies, current political issues, the formation of public policy, methodological approaches, and foundational political theory. The political science major emphasizes critical thinking, research, and writing skills, making it a rich and compatible major for ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s with varied career goals.

In St. Kate's political science program, you will learn:

  • The fundamentals of political science, including theory, research, and practice
  • The skills and knowledge you need to work in government, nonprofits, and other public service organizations
  • How to advocate for social justice and promote change

Students are encouraged to pursue local, state, national, and international internships, which will enable them to explore prospective careers, gain valuable hands-on experience, and develop professional connections within their field. The St. Kate’s political science program also offers ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s the opportunity to attend seminars in Washington, DC.

Outside of the classroom, ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s can take advantage of a variety of opportunities to enhance their education and experience. Clubs and organizations include Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honors Society (Omega Rho Chapter), Political Science Club, Diplomacy Lab, and collaboration and research with professors through Collaborative Research programs.
