Unlock the World of Numbers and Empower Your Analytical Mind

St. ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ University’s mathematics program teaches the patterns of decision-making and problem-solving, with an emphasis on developing critical thinking and communication skills in a collaborative environment.

Apply Your Understanding through Analytics and Real- world Opportunities

The St. ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ University mathematics program prepares ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s to become highly skilled mathematicians who are in high demand in a variety of fields.

Our program offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes:

  • Pure mathematics: You'll learn about the fundamental concepts of mathematics, such as algebra, calculus, geometry, and number theory.
  • Applied mathematics: You'll learn how to apply mathematical principles to solve real-world problems in fields such as science, engineering, and business.
  • Computer science: You'll learn the basics of computer programming and how to use computers to solve mathematical problems.
  • Mathematics education: You'll learn how to teach mathematics effectively at the elementary, middle, or high school level.

Our faculty are experienced mathematicians who are passionate about teaching. They represent a variety of mathematical backgrounds and areas of expertise.

In your senior year, or as a Summer Scholar, you’ll work with a professor on a capstone research project in a subject that interests you. Past topics include combinatorial game theory, the spread of infectious diseases, and the mathematics of music.

As a math major, you’ll have many opportunities outside the classroom, including working as a tutor or teaching assistant in the Mathematical Sciences Department, collaborating with faculty members on research and projects, and participating in mathematics contests such as the Putnam, the NCS-MAA team competition, and the Konhauser team competition.
